Lol I would say when you have a sign with a real estate agency in your yard, it is a pretty dead giveaway that the house is for sale. Whether it says for sale or not

They are just ads for the broker and not the home. If you want to put that up in front of my home to advertise you and not my home I will have to charge you. I’m thinking $100 per day the home is on the market.

Deb, this is a very good point. Many Realtors don’t think about the environmental impact of balloons. Believe it or not, there is also a helium shortage. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/16/science/helium-shortage-party-city.html

Balloons are a huge danger to birds and animals and a terrible pollutant. My real estate team has made a commitment to never use balloons. If you feel you really need balloons there are fake balloons that you can purchase that you can reuse and won’t fly away and endanger any of rapidly decreasing bird population.

I know this is an old question, but just in case someone else needs the info: It would partly depend on your state regulations. Some states have certain requirements for what’s on a yard sign.

Interesting. Wondering if the lights lead to an increase in vandalism though?

Nice article. I own a Real Estate Sign Installation company in Northern California. We store some of the new Compass signs. While they are cool, I haven’t seen them take off yet. As for the lighted sign, from an installation and value standpoint, we really like http://www.mysignshine.com. We have started offering these to the agents we service. Thanks for the article!

Hey Matt,

I think most brokers use sign riders in order to be able to use the same signs for homes that are closed, pending, etc. Of course a “for sale” sign will make people more likely to stop, so putting a small “pending” rider on a for sale sign might be the best of both worlds.

So….that is interesting. I didn’t want to have “For Sale” on our new signs and apparently many don’t these days.

Thanks Marvin,

Solar power is great for signs, but might be like candy for neighborhood vandals…
