In your description, you identify it as an Oakdale, but include the plans for the Clyde. I think they’re all amazing!

Although you can probably get the original blueprints from Sears archives which you can probably Google, these blueprints would definitely not be up to local code and would have to be revised by a local architect where you chose to build. Also the little goodies inside such as the built ins and tons of trims were done by skilled immigrant craftsmen which would cost a small fortune today.

I own a home in Prattville, AL that I’ve been told by surrounding neighbors was purchased from Sears and Roebuck. The materials were reportedly shipped in via railroad as a package. My neighbors grandfather helped build my home. I have researched over th years trying to find the original plan or any information on the floor plan. I am about to sell and would love any help in finding out more to pass on to the next buyer. Any suggestions on where to start looking?

Have you gotten your home sold yet? I am licensed in just Missouri and Kansas, however, I have a great network of agents with a few good ones in eastern Tennessee. If you haven’t sold it yet, I’d be happy to refer someone to you in your area.

Hmmmm you sure that’s an Oakdale and not a Clyde?

1. The Anderson, Indiana house is a custom design as are quite a few Sears houses in Anderson, some of which were featured in the “Modern Homes” catalog in the early 1930s. The house was financed through Sears which along with interior details helped authenticate that it’s from Sears.

2. The “Crescent” in Des Plaines is correctly identified.

3. That last house in Boulder, Colorado is a perfect example of the 1920s version of the Sears “Oakdale”, not the “Clyde”.

The rest are not Sears houses although that house identified as a “Glen Falls” is close but not a match. Realtors love to include Sears in their listing of old houses but many of those are incorrectly identified including the others that are on your list.
