My Expert Opinion on Kaplan

Kaplan shines in its interactive learning environment. It consistently provides direct access to instructors and other students through live webinars, such as interactive study groups, career mentorship, and community forms.

Years ago, I took my prelicensing class through Kaplan and really enjoyed the format. The information was easy to digest, and the quizzes along the way helped me feel prepared for the test. Kaplan takes education seriously and even provides textbooks, like “Modern Real Estate Practice,” recommended by the same people who designed the licensing exam.

💡Room for improvement: With all that Kaplan offers, adding a pass guarantee would strengthen its already strong education model and add more value to its prelicensing and exam prep packages. Additionally, if it adds a broker-in-charge course, the company may see an increase in enrollments and keep students coming back.

Kaplan Cost

Kaplan offers various tiers of course packages with self-paced and live online options. All packages include an interactive study group and exam proctoring. However, students can enjoy add-on benefits such as live coaching and real estate math courses in some of the more expensive packages.

My Expert Opinion on The CE Shop

While The CE Shop offers an interesting array of continuing education (CE) courses that will pique your interest each renewal period, don’t let the name fool you. This NC real estate license online school is not just limited to continuing education classes. It provides everything from obtaining your license to upgrading and renewal, ensuring your bases are covered.

The self-paced, online learning style makes this school appealing to those who need a more flexible schedule. The cherry on top? The site offers a ton of additional resources to help agents succeed and grow their businesses. It also has a referral program where you can earn $25 for each person you refer, and they get 35% off on The CE Shop courses. Today, $25 might not seem like a lot, but adding it to your real estate agent referral fees can add up fast. This best online real estate school in NC is an excellent choice for students who want to immerse themselves in the industry.

💡Room for improvement: No live, interactive class or networking options make it hard for students who may need more direct engagement to learn. Adding in study groups or virtual “office hours” with instructors could improve student confidence in choosing The CE Shop as their school of choice.

The CE Shop Cost

The CE Shop is the most expensive of the bunch; however, it’s easy to see why they are one of the best real estate schools in NC. Their courses and website are chock-full of bonus resources. Students can choose from multiple course package options based on their learning needs and budget.

My Expert Opinion on Superior School of Real Estate

Students have their pick of the litter with the diverse course options and hours offered by Superior School of Real Estate. In partnership with Colibri Real Estate, self-paced and virtual livestream are available. However, for students who prefer an in-person classroom experience, multiple locations in NC are available. Class times that include half days, full days, nights, and weekends make this school an accessible choice for many.

The Career Nights and Crammer courses are standout offerings compared to other schools. The Crammer course is recommended for current or past students and a great option for out-of-state licensees looking for reciprocity. It’s evident that the school wants students to feel supported and confident in their decision to pursue a career in the industry.

💡Room for improvement: Although Superior School of Real Estate offers resources to help students get up and running in real estate, the website does not offer many career resources to keep students coming back for more. Providing additional content and resources as students’ careers grow might benefit the school/student relationship.

Superior School of Real Estate Cost

Superior School of Real Estate offers a range of package options for its courses, including free online proctored exams, regular instructor support, progress quizzes, and career fairs. My Expert Opinion on Aceable Agent

The real estate industry is constantly changing, so Aceable Agent really sets itself apart as the best online real estate school in NC for real estate education designed for mobile. It was one of the first schools to offer this feature. While this may appeal to the more tech-savvy student, its website is straightforward to navigate for just about anyone.

With the “Ace or Don’t Pay” guarantee, you pass your test or get your money back. Although this may seem like a bold claim, I would feel compelled to give it a try if I saw a school offering this when I was deciding where to take my prelicensing course.

💡Room for improvement: Offering post-licensing and continuing education courses in more states will reach a larger audience and increase enrollments. It will also benefit past students, who can return for their real estate education needs. Currently, Aceable Agent only offers these courses in three states.

Aceable Agent Cost

When getting your real estate license in NC, Aceable Agent is among the more affordable options, offering abundant prelicensing resources. With an Ace or Don’t Pay guarantee, you will receive a refund if you don’t pass the real estate exam after three attempts.

My Expert Opinion on Trav Talks Real Estate

Trav Talks Real Estate offers a cost-effective option when looking for NC real estate schools. Although the courses are only offered online, the owner and instructors are local to North Carolina.

In addition to the standard coursework offered, the school’s YouTube channel offers an abundance of free videos. The videos are highly viewed and appreciated by people taking real estate courses. Overall, this school puts a fun twist on learning the material and is passionate about helping students succeed.

💡Room for improvement: There are numerous North Carolina real estate classes online; however, since Trav Talks Real Estate is a local school, it would be nice if it offered some in-person class options. This could open up a whole new group of students who prefer in-person learning.

Trav Talks Real Estate Cost

Trav Talks Real Estate offers transparent pricing with no additional fees for books or exam prep. All its courses, except exam prep, are taught with a live instructor online via Zoom.

My Expert Opinion on Carolina School of Real Estate

Get the basics with Carolina School of Real Estate. This school makes getting students through their main coursework its mission by offering prelicensing, post-licensing, and continuing education. It’s a great option for those interested in an in-person classroom setting, as it has a variety of course dates and locations available.

While you may not get the frills of career resources or coaching, this is a solid choice for having a more traditional classroom setting with an instructor working with you face-to-face. However, Carolina School of Real Estate partners with The CE Shop and Superior School of Real Estate for those who prefer self-paced online learning.

💡Room for improvement: The Carolina School of Real Estate website is dated, and the navigation makes it easy to miss courses and resources that it offers. I had to get lost on the site to find that it provides an exam prep course, among other features. Updating the information and design of the site could help draw in more students, as it offers a nice range of course dates and locations at a reasonable price.

Carolina School of Real Estate Cost

Compared to similarly priced schools, Carolina School of Real Estate offers more in-person options than most but lacks some bonus resources or add-on features. However, its CE and exam prep are among the more budget-friendly options across the board. Prices vary when taking its online courses via The CE Shop or Superior School of Real Estate

My Verdict on AceableAgent & Why You Should Trust It

As a real estate education researcher/writer who has spent thousands of hours evaluating many real estate schools in different states, I based my AceableAgent review on thorough analysis. I’ve tested its online learning platform, examined its course offerings and exam prep materials, and read Aceable real estate reviews. I am committed to providing you with my unbiased assessment, so rest assured that the scores and analyses presented here are solely mine and reflect the stance of The Close’s editorial team.

After extensively reviewing AceableAgent, I recommend this school to people who thrive while learning independently and on the go. Its courses are accessible through any device, which makes it easy if you’re preoccupied with a different job during the day. While no school is without its drawbacks, such as limited course availability and class format options, AceableAgent’s strengths outweigh its weaknesses.

AceableAgent Reviews

As of this writing, the school has an average rating of 4.9 based on 8,200 Aceable real estate school reviews from Trustpilot. Below are some 5-star AceableAgent reviews from verified users:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I first used Aceable to obtain my real estate license, and now I’m using for my continuing education. The courses are engaging, humorous, and repetitive (in a good way!) I appreciate that Aceable includes multiple forms of content (text, videos, graphics, quizzes, and little games). I also never knew I could be so endeared by a cartoon robot.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Aceable is well structured. I am a visual learner, all the examples and videos are greatly appreciated. Customer service is quick with timely responses if there are hiccups. The proctored exams are smooth and seamless each time I’ve taken my exams. Thank you.

Overall, students are satisfied with AceableAgent’s course offerings, class format, and platform. While there are a lot of good reviews, Aceable also has its share of negative ones, with some of the usual issues being technical and related to online testing. Here are some examples of 3-star reviews:

⭐⭐⭐
The coursework and website were tremendously easy to navigate. The coursework was very well laid out and made interesting much of the minutiae that otherwise could have been tedious. However, the online testing was an unmitigated disappointment. With the exception of 1 time, each time I went to test online there was some technical issue which prevented me from testing either at that time or on that day (which required that I had to reschedule my appointment and get ahold of the help desk.) The online testing UI needs to be worked through and all the bugs removed.

⭐⭐⭐
Aceable itself is a well-run entity. However, examity being the company who does the proctored exams is less than ideal. Always such a hassle. Will be very glad to not have to use examity once I’m finished with the courses. Other than that I have enjoyed the experience using Aceable to attain a real estate license.

AceableAgent Course Availability: Can I Take AceableAgent Real Estate Courses in My State?

Aside from striving to enhance student’s overall learning experience, AceableAgent is also working on expanding its services to more states. In this section, I’ve listed the types of real estate classes AceableAgent offers and the states where they are available.

AceableAgent Pricing

The pricing for AceableAgent course packages is state-specific due to the varying number of course hours required by each state. For instance, AceableAgent’s basic prelicensing course package in Florida will only cost you $116, whereas the equivalent option in Texas will run you $449. Here’s what’s usually included in Aceable’s course packages:

Prelicensing
$116-$749
  • Self-paced online format accessible across all devices
  • Instructor support
  • Audio guide for all lessons
  • Mini-course on finding the right broker
  • Private tutoring, live webinars, and instructor Q&A in premium package
Exam Prep
$59-$99
  • Offered via PrepAgent by Aceable
  • Available in all states
  • Flashcards and exam study guides
  • Live group webinars
  • Private tutoring option
  • 1-week, 1-month, and 3-month subscription options

  • Individual and packaged courses
  • Payment plan available
Continuing Ed.

AceableAgent Alternatives

Since AceableAgent only caters to a few states, it obviously isn’t the best option for everyone. For example, AceableAgent doesn’t have career resources or networking opportunities for prospective agents, which can be a deal-breaker for some. Here are other real estate schools you might be interested in, including our link to each school’s review and video walk-through.

Key Features of AceableAgent

In this section of the AceableAgent review, I’ll highlight AceableAgent’s strengths and identify areas for improvement.

Value for Money ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

With its affordable pricing, AceableAgent is a cost-effective option among national real estate schools. It offers excellent value for money with competitively priced packages that include extra features such as audio guides, practice exam questions, and instructor support. AceableAgent’s basic package offers more features than other schools like Colibri Real Estate.

Class Formats ⭐⭐⭐

Since AceableAgent’s courses are self-paced online, it may not be the best option for students who prefer more interactive classes. However, if you’re willing to pay for Aceable’s premium package, you’ll get a scheduled private tutoring session with an expert and live webinars where you can ask questions in real time.

Student Dashboard ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The AceableAgent course dashboard is pretty simple. On the left-hand side, you’ve got an outline of classes, marking your progress through the required material. A “what’s next” prompt sits front and center, indicating your immediate steps toward completing your prelicensing course and a collection of typical navigation links across the top.

Other real estate education companies, like Colibri Real Estate or Kaplan, have dashboards with more information (such as upcoming training webinars, course statistics, and mastery opportunities). Still, we weren’t dissatisfied with the AceableAgent experience.

AI Tools ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The newest feature of AceableAgent is an AI virtual instructor that is similar to ChatGPT and just as helpful. It’s included in all courses free of charge and available on all platforms and devices. So what does it do? The AI instructor answers questions as you go through your courses. If you decide to use the feature, the Ace robot will be visible in the left corner of your dashboard screen when you are reading through chapters. If you have a question while you’re learning, ask Ace by starting a chat. This will give you a quick and efficient response to your burning questions.

Mobile Interface ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

AceableAgent provides online real estate prelicensing education and a fresh, mobile-first approach to real estate learning. Their mobile app makes completing your class hours as easy as listening to a podcast and is an exclusive offering that none of their competitors provide. If spending your nights and weekends in a stuffy classroom crushes your soul, AceableAgent’s mobile experience might be the ideal solution.

Reputation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

AceableAgent is well-known for its innovative approach, easy-to-use platform, and comprehensive course offerings. Students and licensed professionals appreciate the school’s commitment to staying current with industry standards. The school has been around for over a decade, so it’s no wonder it’s always among students’ top real estate school choices.

Bottom Line: Is AceableAgent Worth Your Money?

If you’re a visual learner and enjoy studying at your own pace, AceableAgent is a great choice. However, it isn’t perfect. Its offerings lack features to help you interact and network with other prospective agents and speak to instructors in real time. If your learning style thrives on interaction with people and content, you must go the extra mile on AceableAgent to make that happen.

Also, your prelicensing course is just part of the real estate education you’ll need to launch and maintain a long and successful career. AceableAgent doesn’t offer many options for continuing education or broker prelicensing, so while a competitor like Colibri Real Estate or The CE Shop can offer everything under a single banner, you’ll likely only take one course with AceableAgent.

My Expert Opinion on The CE Shop

As the no. 1 pick on my list of best online Florida real estate license courses, The CE Shop provides all the types of classes you’ll need throughout your real estate career. The company has a wide range of interesting continuing education electives, such as Understanding Real Estate and Mortgage Fraud, Second Home Ownership, and even additional professional development courses that will help you succeed in your first few years as an agent. Check out our The CE Shop review for more information.

💡Room for improvement: Even though courses are all self-paced online, The CE Shop does not offer live class options. Students and agents would benefit from live interaction through interactive study groups or live Q&A sessions.

My Expert Opinion on Gold Coast Schools

I included Gold Coast Schools in my top picks because you can take live courses in any of their seven Florida locations: Doral, North Miami, Tamarac, West Palm Beach, East Orlando, North Orlando, and Boca Raton. Also, the company offers courses in English and Spanish, which is an exclusive perk among the schools on this list. Plus, I love the Gold Coast career fairs and weekly tutoring sessions with expert instructors. If you feel you could benefit from in-person learning and an intensive livestream review session, try Gold Coast Schools.

💡Room for improvement: Gold Coast Schools is the perfect option for students who need to interact with others to learn, but it’ll cost you a lot for classroom and livestream courses. That said, I wish Gold Coast Schools included a refund guarantee for its courses, given the hefty price tag. It must be frustrating for some students to invest in such an expensive course without getting a money-back guarantee.

My Expert Opinion on Colibri Real Estate

As our third-best online real estate school in Florida, Colibri Real Estate provides all the necessary resources for you to feel confident for the exam: simulated exams, Q&A sessions with instructors, audio review guides, and a series of webinars. I love how the courses repeat essential information to make content easier to retain for the exam.

💡Room for improvement: Colibri Real Estate currently lacks live class options. If you aren’t a self-motivated learner, you might have trouble getting through some of the drier material on your own. Those who prefer a more interactive learning experience might consider taking a livestream course with Gold Coast Schools (which is affiliated with Colibri).

My Expert Opinion on RealEstateU

Despite being the cheapest real estate school in Florida, RealEstateU maintains its essential features without compromise. I’m impressed at how RealEstateU still offers a refund policy even when its courses are already so affordable! RealEstateU’s courses are comprehensible audio lectures over slides, with practice quizzes at the end of each lesson. If you’re looking for an option without the bells and whistles that won’t break the bank, RealEstateU is the right school for you.

💡Room for improvement: RealEstateU only offers self-paced courses, so students cannot interact with their peers and instructors in real time. That said, I hope that RealEstateU considers incorporating live Q&A sessions or interactive study groups in their top-tier package so students will have a live instruction option.

My Expert Opinion on Champions School of Real Estate

Champions is the second-best real estate school in Texas on my list for its class formats and the quality of education it offers. You can take your courses in any of Champions’ class formats: Blended Classroom, Virtual Classroom, Online Interactive, Online Correspondence, and Champions Advantage. All Champions’ course packages come with many features, with my favorite being the unlimited exam prep retakes for a year. If you’re looking for a school with an in-person class option, Champions is the clear choice. Students can choose from any of Champions’ six campuses across the state: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.

💡Room for improvement: One thing worth calling out is that Champions doesn’t offer payment plans, given how expensive its packages are. Also, Champions should include a pass guarantee in its course packages. However, prices aside, no other online real estate school in Texas will allow you to mix and match all their course delivery methods, although it comes at a cost.

Champions School of Real Estate Cost

Champions School of Real Estate’s courses are available in four formats: Blended Classroom, Virtual Classroom, Online Interactive, and Online Correspondence. But if you’d like to customize your experience by mixing the different delivery methods, simply choose Champions Advantage.

My Expert Opinion on Aceable Agent

As the only provider on my best real estate schools in Texas list with a mobile app, Aceable Agent has definitely kept up with the times. Aceable Agent has made it enjoyable for students to digest its courses on the go. The audio and videos are accessible on mobile, with chapter quizzes, end-of-level assessments, and Quizlet flashcards. Whether on the train going home, stuck in traffic, or during downtime at work, you can study on your phone. Check out our Aceable Agent review and video walk-through for more information.

💡Room for improvement: Aceable Agent should make its real estate courses available to more states. This way, prospective agents in the country will also have the chance to experience the school’s awesome learning platform on mobile.

My Expert Opinion on The CE Shop

The CE Shop makes my best real estate schools in Texas list by providing top-notch education options throughout your real estate career. Whether prelicensing, exam prep, continuing education, or license renewal, I highly recommend The CE Shop’s courses. Aside from the business building courses and pass guarantee, you’ll also get the 98-hour required license renewal package.

💡Room for improvement: While The CE Shop has continuously improved the quality of its courses and online learning platform, I want to see more interactive features in its course packages. A series of live webinars and Q&A sessions with the company’s best instructors would truly entice prospective agents.

My Expert Opinion on New York Real Estate Institute

I consider New York Real Estate Institute (NYREI) the best real estate school in NY because of its lifetime job placement assistance. No other school on our list has that feature. Regardless of your niche, NYREI has relationships with some of the top real estate brokerages in New York to help you get started with your career.

💡Room for improvement: While NYREI has almost all the extra features you’ll want from a prelicensing package, I wish the school would extend its course access. Currently, students are only given four months to complete their courses, which isn’t reasonable with its hefty price tag. Extending the course access to at least a year would give students ample time to finish their courses without paying extra.

💡Room for improvement: The CE Shop is the best real estate course in New York online for continuing education. However, I think the only thing missing from The CE Shop’s offerings are interactive features such as live webinars and Q&A sessions. It would be the perfect addition to its prelicensing courses.

My Expert Opinion on Colibri Real Estate

With all the noteworthy features you’ll get from the Exam Prep Live package, it’s no wonder Colibri made it to my best real estate schools in NY list. Colibri offers everything you’ll need to feel confident for the real estate exam: Q&A sessions with expert instructors, audio course summaries you can listen to anytime, and a series of one-hour webinars. If these won’t give you the right amount of confidence, Colibri’s Pass or Don’t Pay guarantee will. Read our Colibri Real Estate review for more info.

💡Room for improvement: I thought it would be best if Colibri Real Estate added weekend schedules for its livestream classes for the benefit of those who work on weekdays.

Almost all of Colibri Real Estate’s packages come with a Pass or Don’t Pay guarantee. This benefit means you may be eligible for a full refund if you don’t pass the real estate exam on your first try.

My Expert Opinion on Kaplan

While most schools only focus on materials needed to pass the real estate exam, Kaplan stresses the importance of learning real-world skills and income-generating projects as an agent. The Real Estate Accelerator program and Career Mentor Connect are why I chose Kaplan as one of the best real estate schools in NY. Check out our comprehensive Kaplan review for more information.

💡Room for improvement: Kaplan has the second-most expensive basic prelicensing course on this list, so it would make a lot more sense for Kaplan to start adding a pass guarantee in all their packages.

Kaplan Cost

In New York, Kaplan only offers self-paced courses. All packages include weekly live mentorship sessions online and access to an interactive study group. The more expensive options offer extras such as printed textbooks and live online coaching.

My Expert Opinion on Aceable Agent

After all the hours I spent evaluating the best real estate schools in NY, I am most impressed with Aceable Agent’s interface. It’s the only school on my list with a mobile app, so this provider is perfect for people on the go. Aceable Agent’s student dashboard is also easy to navigate, with audio guides, on-demand videos, practice quizzes, and highlights of the most important parts of every lesson. Read our Aceable Agent review for more information.

💡Room for improvement: It would be great if Aceable Agent could expand its services in more states and offer standalone test prep packages.

My Expert Opinion on RealEstateU

Even if it’s the cheapest real estate school in NY on our list, RealEstateU doesn’t skimp on key features. RealEstateU’s courses are easy-to-digest audio lectures over slides, with practice quizzes at the end of each chapter. If you’re the type of independent student who can easily focus on a task on your own, RealEstateU is the best choice.

💡Room for improvement: RealEstateU only has self-paced courses, so students cannot interact with their instructors and peers. That said, I wish RealEstateU would include live Q&A sessions in their course packages so students can ask questions in real time.

In New York, RealEstateU offers straightforward, simple, and affordable course packages for licensed and aspiring agents.

My Expert Opinion on California Realty Training

Aside from being a local company with access to local brokerages in the state, California Realty Training specializes in both live instruction and online classes—making it one of the best online real estate schools in California. My Expert Opinion on Kaplan

As one of the best online real estate schools in California, Kaplan meets the demands of auditory and visual learners through its flexible learning options. Choose between self-paced, live online, and on-demand video courses. If you’re eyeing Kaplan, I recommend its Career Launcher option, where you’ll get access to interactive study groups, mentorship sessions, and live online coaching. With Kaplan’s Real Estate Accelerator course, you’ll learn all about income-producing activities and real-world skills that will help you as an agent. This sets Kaplan apart because most schools focus on what you need to pass the exam. Read our in-depth review of Kaplan for more information.

💡Room for improvement: Kaplan should start offering a pass guarantee. This guarantee will increase the number of its students and add more value to its prelicensing and exam prep packages. If the other schools on our list have a pass guarantee, Kaplan should level up too.

The company breaks down its courses into three formats: self-paced, on-demand videos, and live online. Within those three formats, they offer a variety of tiers. My Expert Opinion on The CE Shop

If you’re looking for a California real estate school with lots of continuing education options after you get licensed, this is the right one for you. The CE Shop prides itself on various interesting CE courses that will keep you coming back every renewal period. Whether you’re renewing your license for the first or tenth time, The CE Shop’s courses are always relevant to the ever-changing real estate landscape.

💡Room for improvement: In all the times I’ve reviewed The CE Shop, I’ve never seen them include networking opportunities for students and agents. That said, I’d like The CE Shop to offer more interactive package features, such as live webinars and Q&A sessions.

My Expert Opinion on Colibri Real Estate

Aside from its top-notch online learning platform, Colibri Real Estate’s exam prep materials are worthy of a special mention. The exam prep packages may be pricey, but everything included will help you pass the real estate exam. With Colibri’s test prep materials, you’ll get audio review guides to help you retain information easily, simulated exams to master common exam topics, and a readiness assessment to see how prepared you are for the exam. If these aren’t enough to convince you, check out our comprehensive Colibri Real Estate review.

💡Room for improvement: As of this writing, Colibri Real Estate doesn’t offer post-licensing and continuing education courses in California. The CE courses on Colibri’s website are offered through its partnership with McKissock Learning. That being said, I hope Colibri will offer post-licensing and CE courses in the near future.

My Expert Opinion on Aceable Agent

As the only school on this list with a mobile app, Aceable Agent will truly give you the bang for your buck. Its basic package already includes test prep materials and a mini-course on finding the right sponsoring broker. If you pay $220 more, you’ll get one hour of private tutoring, live webinars five times a week, and a live Q&A session. If you’re a go-getter who likes accomplishing tasks simultaneously, you’ll like Aceable Agent’s mobile app. You can read lessons, answer questions, and even listen to the narration on your app on-the-go!

My Expert Opinion on OnlineEd

If you’re looking for a California real estate school that won’t break the bank, this is it. As the cheapest real estate school on my list, keep in mind that OnlineEd doesn’t include many bonus materials in its packages. You’ll get text-heavy courses, which is beneficial if you learn best by reading.

💡Room for improvement: While I know that all of OnlineEd’s courses are designed for the budget-conscious, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to include extra features such as prerecorded real estate videos for visual learners.

McColly Real Estate offers:

  • Prelicensing
  • Exam prep
  • Post-licensing
  • Continuing education
  • Managing broker prelicensing

McColly Real Estate has been in operation since 1974 and teaches real estate in Indiana and Illinois. The company offers both in-person and online self-paced learning packages, and it’s the only Indiana real estate school on our list that offers in-person classes outside of Indianapolis. You can take their in-person classes in Crown Point, Highland, or Valparaiso.

McColly Real Estate Pricing

Depending on your online vs in-person preferences, McColly Real Estate offers three prelicensing packages for prospective Indiana brokers.

  • In-person Indiana Real Estate License ($549): Choose from morning, evening, or the one-month accelerated morning classes. This package includes a copy of your textbook.
  • Online Indiana Basic Package ($534): This self-paced online package includes your prelicensing student workbook, instructional videos, practice homework, and downloadable resources.
  • Online Indiana Premium Package ($639): You’ll get everything from the above package plus the school’s Review Crammer package, which includes hundreds of practice questions and a review of key concepts.

(Indiana prelicensing package prices as of November 2023)

Best Feature

I’m happy to see an in-person class option that doesn’t break the bank. Typically, in-person classes tend to cost more than their online counterparts, so this gives students who want in-class learning a break.

Room to Improve

McColly Real Estate’s affordable pricing doesn’t quite extend to their online packages, placing them around the average cost of packages with fewer features than Colibri Real Estate or The CE Shop.

Bottom Line

If in-person classes are a priority for you, you won’t be disappointed with McColly Real Estate.

Indiana Real Estate Institute offers:

  • Prelicensing
  • Exam prep
  • Post-licensing
  • Continuing education
  • Broker prelicensing

Founded in 1990, Indiana Real Estate Institute is one of the longest-running real estate schools in Indianapolis. The school prides itself in serving the needs of both prospective and licensed brokers across the metro area.

Indiana Real Estate Institute Pricing

Whether you prefer in-person, self-paced, or livestream classes, Indiana Real Estate Institute offers three prelicensing packages for aspiring brokers.

  • Basic ($539): Aside from your 90-hour course, this package includes digital copies of the course manual, handouts, study guides, and unlimited access to the school’s library of recorded classes.
  • Basic Plus ($579): This includes everything in the previous package, printed copies of the course manual, study guides, and instructor support via email.
  • Premier ($595): You’ll get everything from the above packages plus exam study guides, access to the school’s private Facebook community, over 150 videos,  more than 700 flashcards, virtual study sessions, and discounts on future classes.

(Indiana prelicensing package prices as of November 2023)

Best Feature

I love how Indiana Real Estate Institute helps narrow down options for students when they start interviewing with brokerages. The company is affiliated with a lot of brokers, so you can also ask them to help you with job placement after you get your license.

Room to Improve

From prelicensing to upgrading your license, the Indiana Real Estate Institute offers all the types of classes you’ll need throughout your career. The only thing I wish the school had is weekend classes. This way, students who work weekdays and are looking to tackle their courses during the weekends will have options.

Bottom Line

Before you start practicing real estate, you’ll need to affiliate with a brokerage. So, if you want to easily connect with managing brokers in the city, choose Indiana Real Estate Institute.

Tucker School of Real Estate offers:

  • Prelicensing
  • Exam prep
  • Post-licensing
  • Continuing education

Tucker School of Real Estate is one of Indianapolis’s largest real estate schools. They are a great local option, with many of their instructors having attended the Indiana University School of Business. They pride themselves on knowing the local market well.

You can take the 90-hour prelicensing course at Tucker School of Real Estate online or in person. Their campus is conveniently located in the heart of Indianapolis, and their instructors are committed to making sure you don’t leave class without feeling certain about the material.

Tucker School of Real Estate Pricing

Whether you choose to take your course at your own pace online or in person, Tucker School of Real Estate charges the same amount for the 90-hour prelicensing course.

  • Live 90-hour Broker Prelicensing Course ($599): In-person classes run weekdays on half days or evenings. Or choose the 15-day accelerated course that runs full-time Monday through Friday.
  • Virtual/Zoom 90-hour Broker Prelicensing Course ($599): This package is the same as the live option above, but you’ll take your classes from the comfort of home.
  • Online 90-hour Broker Prelicensing Course ($599): Choose this option if you prefer to work at your own pace. You’ll get access to videos, quizzes, and interactive material to help you get through the course.

(Indiana prelicensing package prices as of November 2023)

Best Feature

My favorite feature is the 15-day accelerated in-person course option. It’s perfect for someone who wants to efficiently power through the prelicensing material. By heading to class full time, you’ll have access to your instructor, who designs the course by starting with the essential concepts. Aside from that, I love Tucker School of Real Estate’s continuing education courses. They have lots of interesting topics to choose from, so you don’t have to look for another school once you’re licensed.

Room to Improve

Tucker School of Real Estate’s pricing isn’t the most affordable on this list, and the school could do better by adding extra features to their packages such as test prep materials or career development courses.

Bottom Line

Tucker School of Real Estate is a great local option if you’re in the Indianapolis area and want to get your course done quickly.

My Verdict on Colibri Real Estate

Colibri Real Estate is an ideal option for just about anyone who needs to complete their required real estate prelicensing education. It’s not the basement-level budget option RealEstateU offers and doesn’t have as many livestream opportunities as Kaplan, but the interface is better than their closest competitor, The CE Shop. To that point, I’ve seen a lot of improvement in their interface over the years and I love that commitment to innovation. The price point, access to instructors, and customer support make Colibri Real Estate an excellent choice. Plus, they offer a money-back guarantee that you’ll pass your real estate exam.

Colibri Real Estate Prelicensing Pricing for 2024

While I focused mostly on reviewing Colibri’s prelicensing education, it’s important to note that they offer exam prep and continuing education in every state. Colibri also offers broker education in nine states and post-licensing in states where it is required. Their pricing, across packages, aligns pretty closely with the major online schools in the industry, such as Kaplan, The CE Shop, and Aceable Agent

While pricing depends on how many hours of education your state requires and other variables, here’s the basic breakdown of Colibri’s packages.

Value for Money

Colibri is priced around the same point as Kaplan, The CE Shop, and Aceable Agent, but we’re very impressed with the features included in the Colibri packages. Not only do you have several options to choose from, but most packages include Colibri’s exceptional exam prep resources and its Pass or Don’t Pay guarantee (note that the guarantee does not apply to students in Florida or Tennessee). Even if Colibri doesn’t offer prelicensing education in your state, it’s worth looking into their exam prep courses, which are offered in all 50 states.

What Does Colibri Real Estate Offer in My State?

Colibri Real Estate prelicensing is currently available in almost every state, with broker licensing offered in nine states.  Exam prep and continuing education packages are in every state. Note that Colibri’s continuing education is done by its sister company, McKissock. Also the company has the following local schools under its umbrella: Superior School of Real Estate, Hondros College, Arizona School of Real Estate & Business, Hogan School of Real Estate, Rockwell Institute, Gold Coast Schools, and Key Realty School. This really just means they offer the same online experience and more live in-person options.

Walk-through Video

What Sets Colibri Real Estate Apart

There are some really excellent online real estate education providers, but Colibri continues to innovate and stand out from the crowd. Here’s a breakdown of why they are consistently picked as our top online real estate school:

Room for Improvement

We would like to see Colibri offer livestream courses in more states, as opposed to just a handful (such as California, Texas, and New York).

The lowest-priced packages don’t offer many bells and whistles, which might be frustrating for budget-conscious students looking for exam prep. Those who want just their state’s course content at a bargain price, or who’ve already been licensed in another state and need to check this education box, might want to consider a provider like RealEstateU.

The Bottom Line: Is Colibri Worth the Money?

Yes. Based on my thorough Colibri Real Estate review, I believe that the platform definitely lives up to the hype. Colibri Real Estate provides comprehensive courses that are widely available at affordable prices. Their Pass or Don’t Pay guarantee and dedication to innovation add to the many reasons I recommend this provider and why I’ve chosen Colibri Real Estate as our best online real estate school. If you want a quality education at an affordable price with excellent preparation for the real estate exam, Colibri is the right school for you.

Colibri Alternatives

Of course, Colibri Real Estate is not the only game in town. There are many education providers to fit every budget and learning style. Consider these four national providers, or refer to our state-specific guides to see what school we recommend for your state.

Real Estate SchoolBest ForStarting Price
Kaplan Real EstateLivestream$249
The CE ShopExam prep$139
Aceable AgentMobile$116
RealEstateUStudents on a budget$69

Methodology

You can count on my Colibri Real Estate review to be thoughtful and objective both from a real estate perspective and the standpoint of someone who’s taken prelicensing classes and passed my state’s exam.

Specifically, when I evaluate a real estate school, I’m looking at:

  • The education provider’s accreditation
  • Pricing and value for money
  • Specific packages offered
  • The diversity of course offerings
  • Customer support
  • Access to instructors
  • Scheduling flexibility
  • Content delivery options
  • Continuing education options
  • Networking and career placement opportunities
  • Expertise of instructors

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent

1. Complete a 75-hour Prelicensing Course

To get your real estate license in New Jersey, you must complete a 75-hour prelicensing course. The New Jersey Real Estate Commission (REC) keeps an updated list of licensed real estate schools that offer prelicensing courses. Many of the listed schools offer in-person classes that run full time during the week and part time during the evenings, as well as online courses that you can take at your own pace.

Once you complete your prelicensing education, you may schedule your license exam. You have one year from the end of your prelicensing course to apply for and take the exam. You can take the test either remotely from home or in person at one of these PSI testing locations across New Jersey:

  • Brick
  • Cherry Hill
  • Hamilton Township
  • North Brunswick
  • New Providence
  • Linwood
  • Rochelle Park
  • Parsippany
  • Secaucus

Once you’ve scheduled your exam, all that’s left to do is study so you feel prepared on exam day. We recommend reviewing your prelicensing course materials to pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses. If you could use more help studying, we suggest investing in an exam prep package. There’s no better way to increase your chances of passing the first time than getting useful study tools that target the lessons you’ll need to focus on.

Immediately before you take the exam, you’ll need to answer screening questions to determine if you have any criminal history or if you’ve held any other real estate licenses. After you pass the exam, you’ll be asked to sign and confirm that your answers to the screening questions are accurate. You’ll submit the signed form as part of your real estate license application.

3. Find a Sponsoring Broker to Hire You

Before taking the license exam, the state requires you to secure a sponsoring broker who can apply for your license on your behalf. Though this process may be new to you, rest assured that New Jersey brokerages are familiar with sponsoring new agents and are frequently willing to take on new recruits. After all, you’ll be a valuable addition to their real estate team.

You’ll need to contact a brokerage, explain where you are in the process of obtaining your license, and ask them if they are willing to be your sponsoring broker. Make sure to ask about the split, or how you and the brokerage will divide commissions. You’ll find that some brokerages will ask for a 50-50 split on commissions and not charge monthly desk fees. It all depends on your effort and commitment, but once you reach a certain sales goal (or cap) for the year, your take-home pay may rise up to 100% of your commissions.

4. Apply for Your Real Estate License

At this point, you’re in the final stretch of becoming a real estate agent in New Jersey. Now all you need to do is complete the license application process. Here’s what you’ll need to submit your New Jersey real estate license application:

  • A sponsoring broker to apply on your behalf
  • A completed application form
  • $160 fee payment
  • A copy of the fingerprinting universal form
  • A copy of your payment receipt for fingerprinting
  • Your signed answers to the screening questions from your exam

You can begin by completing a background check, which is required to apply for your license. If you live or work in the state of New Jersey, your fingerprinting must be done at one of the IDEMIA LiveScan fingerprinting locations. If you live outside New Jersey, you need to contact the REC.

  1. Complete the LiveScan fingerprinting universal form.
  2. Schedule an appointment for your fingerprinting.
  3. Pay the $66.05 fee and keep the receipt for your license application.
  4. Finally, arrive at your fingerprinting location with your universal form, receipt of payment, and a photo ID.

Once you and your sponsoring broker have applied for your New Jersey real estate license, you will get your approval status by email. The REC makes your real estate license available for download as a PDF for your convenience.
