One decided she didn’t like packing and so instead of getting her act together, she went to another city and spent the day with friends three days before closing. I had helped her sort and pack things earlier in the week. The movers came and she didn’t have a check for them and they were going to walk until I got out my credit card. (I was finally reimbursed.) The property closed the next day and I went to pick her up to take her to the airport. She still had personal property all over the place, little stuff, that the movers didn’t take. I explained that the house was no longer hers and that the new owner wanted to move in. I told her to pack in a suitcase what she could as I was driving her to the airport and her flight was in 2 hours. She did and I did. The new owner and the other agent were patient and understanding. She took 14 garbage bags of stuff out of the house after she got the keys. With all the best efforts in the world, some clients just don’t cooperate.

Off, that sounds awful! Agents like that give the industry a bad name.

When I read the above descriptions of energy vampires, that describes this woman. She doesn’t listen to anything I ask, she refuses to communicate with me in a timely manner because she is always out of town, she gives horrible advice, argues with everything I say, and refuses to do what I tell her.
I feel like I am living in a nightmare because she refuses to let me out of the contract and is now demanding $20,000 to take my house off the market, and I have fired her. She won’t take the house off the market.

I think all new agents should read them, because there are lessons here to be learned.

It was “early” in my career and I wanted to help and save everyone. I helped and saved them for 18 grueling months! They were an elderly couple who presented themselves at the listing appointment as being amiable and open to anything I said or wanted. Once they signed I became their servant, confidante, and punching bag. I took them home cooked dinners, Christmas presents, Easter baskets. A realtor train through the home with feedback led to a disaster. The seller called me hysterically crying about the horrible agents and how could they say those things about her home. These folks had no intention of selling their home. They had been living in a MILLION DOLLAR PLUS waterfront home for three plus years for free. I advised them to please start purging and packing. I hauled boxes over there, packing supplies.Get ready for the inevitable. They ended up with three offers on the table waiting in the wings. The sellers complained the offers were too low, they needed more.I tried in vain to explain to them it was out of their hands. My “ah-ha” moment came when I was able to convince the banks to let them apply for short sale status. The lender sent them a serious package to fill out, send documents ,signatures etc, and return overnight. The next day sellers had been to the farmers market. I asked about the progress with the docs etc. She blantantly told me “oh we are canning today,we got peaches and tomatoes, please block all showings” In a nutshell I felt like the lunatic in the end! I felt like I was in a play and being punked! It was the craziest experience ever.
I am so wary now with potential clients and the”time suck meter”
