What about Seller Funded Temporary Rate Buydowns? It can cost the seller less than a price reduction. 2.5% – 3% to fund a 2/1 Buydown for example vs. a 5% price reduction. The benefits to the buyer help with affordability as the 2 year temporary buydown can reduce a buyers monthly payment by hundreds of dollars, depending on the loan, it could be from $400 – $500 a month or more.
